There is protected (sometimes refered 19670 or PCM) and unprotected (avoid) batteries

 - Protection prevents over-discharge (kill battery) and over-charge. Most of the

 chargers will provide overcharge protection. But few devices protect against

 overdischarge (HC90 doesnt)

 - Any cells that have panasonic A (3100mah) or panasonic B(3400mah) in make a good choice (protected!)

 - Reliable brands would be KeepPower, Eagletac, Olight, Efest, AW, Orbtronics, etc

 - Don't buy any 18650 batteries with "fire" in their name

 - More devices work with button-top batteries (avoid flat-top)

 - Protected batteries are slightly larger when unprotected (and difference varies between brands). The

 device shoulb be capable to hold the protected battery.
