                                                                        this data in table form in the book, but discussion of it was not really mind blowing.

 

 

Jared Diamond: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed          0 ~+    Mostly book on ecology and how socities in the past damaged and destroyed their habitats or vice-versa

                                                                        managed them well. Covers quite primitive polynesians, viking civilization, and also talks about 

                                                                        problems of nowadays technological societies. OK, it is not only ecology, but also cultural aspects, etc.

                                                                        Main problem is over-population making resource usage unsustainable leading to quick collapse in small

                                                                        or fragile eco-systems, but also big ones have it limits.
